SoilPATH Kick-off Meeting

The Plant, Soil and By-product Valorisation Research Group (BV1) participated in the kick-off meeting of the European project SoilPATH – SOIL Practices Assessment and Transition for Health, held on 22 and 23 September in Ghent, Belgium.
Coordinated by Universiteit Gent, SoilPATH will run for five years under Horizon Europe. The project will analyse how individual and combined agricultural practices affect soil health and farm performance.
Our participation in the project focuses on studying the impact of individual agricultural practices. In this area, the University of Vigo leads Work Package 2 (WP2).
The meeting was attended by UVigo’s principal investigators in the project, Antía Gómez Armesto and Daniel Arenas Lago, together with David Fernández Calviño, WP2 leader, and Manuel Conde Cid.
The two-day meeting provided an opportunity to share approaches and priorities with the other consortium partners and to advance the definition of the project’s initial lines of work for the next five years.
SoilPATH will develop a harmonised European model to assess the effects of agricultural practices on soil health and farm performance. The results will be integrated into tools and resources for farmers, advisors and policymakers.
